Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 25, 2026

This page explains, in plain words, what information Y2mate handles when you use the site and what we do with it. The short version: we collect very little, and we never keep the videos you download or a record of what you saved.

Overview

Y2mate is a free tool for saving YouTube videos as MP4 and audio as MP3. You paste a link, pick a quality, and the file opens in a new browser tab straight from YouTube's video servers.

Because the tool works this way, it does not need to know who you are. There is no sign-up, no profile and no app to install. This policy covers the Y2mate website and every page on it, including the downloader, the YouTube to MP3 and YouTube to MP4 pages, and the Contact page.

What We Do Not Collect

Some things are simply never part of how Y2mate works. We want to be clear about them up front.

  • No account: you never create a username or password, and we don't ask for your name, email or phone number to use the downloader.
  • No files kept: the site hosts no video or audio files. Every file comes directly from YouTube's servers to your browser.
  • No download history: we don't keep a list of the videos you looked up or the qualities you chose.
  • No payment details: the tool is free, so we never ask for card or bank information.

The Video Link You Paste

When you paste a YouTube link and tap the button, that link is sent to look up the video live. This is how Y2mate finds the title, the length and the list of available qualities, including the file size for each MP4 option.

The link is used once, for that single lookup, and then it is gone. We do not save it, attach it to you, or build any history from it. If you paste the same link again later, the video is looked up fresh, as if for the first time.

Information Collected Automatically

Like almost every website, Y2mate runs on infrastructure that records basic technical details when a browser connects. Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, handles these standard logs. They may include the items below.

These details are used for security and to keep the site working properly, for example to block automated abuse, stop attacks and spot technical errors. We don't use them to identify individual visitors or to track what you download, and we don't sell them to anyone.

  • Your IP address
  • Your browser type and version, and your device's operating system
  • The date and time of the request
  • The page you asked for

Google Analytics and Cookies

Y2mate uses Google Analytics to understand how the site is used in general: how many visits we get, which pages people open, which countries visits come from and what kinds of devices are common. These are anonymous statistics that help us decide what to improve.

Google Analytics uses cookies, which are small text files stored in your browser. They don't contain the videos you save or the links you paste.

You stay in control of cookies:

  • You can refuse or block cookies in your browser settings.
  • You can delete cookies that are already stored at any time from your browser's privacy or history menu.
  • You can install Google's official opt-out browser add-on for Google Analytics, which stops your visits from being counted on any site that uses it.
  • Blocking cookies will not stop the downloader from working.

Messages Sent Through the Contact Form

If you write to us through the Contact page, we receive what you type in the form, along with any name or reply address you choose to give. We use this only to read your message and reply to you.

We don't add you to a mailing list, and we don't share your message with advertisers. Please avoid including sensitive personal details that aren't needed for your question.

Third-Party Services

A few outside services are involved in running Y2mate. Each has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read.

  • YouTube and Google: the source of every video and audio file. When a file opens in your browser, it comes from YouTube's servers, so Google may receive standard connection details from your browser.
  • Cloudflare: hosting and security for the site, including the technical logs described above.
  • Google Analytics: anonymous visit statistics, as explained in the cookies section.

Children

Y2mate is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal details through the contact form, let us know through the Contact page and we will delete them.

Data Security

Since we keep so little, there is very little that could ever be exposed. The site is served over an encrypted connection, and Cloudflare helps protect it against attacks and misuse.

No system on the internet can promise perfect security, but we limit what we hold and only use trusted providers for the parts we can't run ourselves.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. We respect these requests wherever they reasonably apply:

To use any of these rights, send us a message through the Contact page and describe what you need. Because we don't keep accounts or download history, in most cases the only personal information we might have is a message you sent us. For analytics data, Google's own tools and the opt-out add-on give you direct control.

  • Access: ask what information we hold about you, if any.
  • Correction: ask us to fix information that is wrong.
  • Deletion: ask us to erase information, such as a message you sent us.
  • Objection: object to how your information is used.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a new service or the law changes. When we do, the updated version will appear on this page. If you keep using Y2mate after a change, the new version applies, so it's worth checking back now and then.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how Y2mate handles your information, reach out to us through the Contact page.
